10 affordable beauty tips

Dear readers,

Skin care is a daily job, using expensive anti-aging products when you reach a certain age will not make up for all those years that you've been neglecting your skin. But it's never too late to start following a beauty routine and I'm giving you 10 tips that you can start following right now:

Beauty Sleep

Although not every person needs the same hours of sleep to recharge and feel rested, it's recommended that you get between 6-9 hours of rest every night.

Drink lots of water

We all know this one but how many of you does actually drink at least 2 litres a day, really? What I've been doing for years is counting my glasses. I start work at 8 sharp so I have one glass of water every hour, that's 8 in total. At home I just drink whatever I feel like as I've already have had my minimum intake of water in the morning.


Use a gentle cleanser morning and night to remove pollution and dirt that build up without you noticing it. You can actually skip cleansing in the morning and go straight to toning your skin using a cotton pad, this way you won't strip your skin from its natural protection. Don't ever skip removing your make up in the evening, try using some make up wipes at least for when you're really, really tired. And don't forget to clean your make up brushes regularly, like once a week, at least.

Hot water

Avoid using hot water as it will strip your skin of its moisture in a damaging way. Try using warm water instead.

Paper tissues

Instead of using a used towel to dry your face try having a tissue box in your bathroom and use a few paper tissues to pat-dry your face after cleansing, no rubbing!

Satin or silk pillowcase

In order to prevent skin creases that could turn into wrinkles later on you should switch over to using satin or silk pillowcases. They aren't that more expensive than plain cotton ones and will last you for a very long time if taken good care of. Remember also that you need to wash them regularly, once a week at least.


Avoid sun exposure from 12 to 4 in the Summer and always use the recommended SPF30 all year round. Don't forget to reapply sunscreen every 2 hours or, 80 minutes if you've been swimming.


Twice a week, don't overdue it by thinking the more often the better, it will have the opposite effect.

Avoid touching your face

And I mean, not only avoid popping your pimples but like, the less you touch your face the less bacteria will get into your pores and the healthier and clearer your skin will look.

No make up day

Try to give your skin a rest and embrace your bare face. Choose a day in the week that you'll be comfortable not wearing any make up and just enjoy the feeling of having a clean skin.

Don't forget: a happy skin will make you feel happier and be more positive!
